The Potomac River is a river in the United States that flows through the states of West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. The city of Washington, D.C. is the largest city on the river.

North BranchEdit

The North Branch of the Potomac River's source is located at Fairfax Stone Historical Monument State Park in West Virginia. It flows through Jennings Randolph Lake and the Allegheny Mountains before joining the South Branch at South Branch Depot, West Virginia.

South BranchEdit

From its source in Highland County, Virginia, it flows 139 miles to its confluence with the North Branch at South Branch Depot, West Virginia.

Potomac RiverEdit

The Potomac River then forms the border of Virginia and Maryland, passing Washington, D.C. before flowing into Chesapeake Bay.
